A Section of No 2 Platoon, Pskyer Coven 555

Now on the Brick of Scrutiny, 'A' Section of what most of 72AG refers to as the 555 Bolt Magnet Regiment.  Actually no more than 60 Wyrds at any one time (the Imperial Navy won't carry a unit of more than 60 on any one vessel for some reason), For most of the campaign, there are three Psyker Covens (555, 501 and 7863) on Devos IV.  The sections are split out amongst the subunits, as directed by their Corps HQ.

This guy is from Drax's extensive supply of unpainted junior officers. Those of you with long memories may recall that my intention was to use this unifying colour scheme across 72AG, because that would be kool.

Any way, he needs a little tidying up; there's boltgunmetal on his chest and tail of his jacket.  Aside from this, he needs a white aqilla transfer on his green poultron and I might try a freehand =I= on his other shoulder to mark him as a freak-leash.

And now for the real deal.  For minis painted under less than ideal lighting conditions these are not too bad.  I do think that I missed less on these than I did on the leash or the DKK I showed you before.

But I do need to break out a detail brush and sort out their head gear.  I draw your attention to the flesh tone on the visor above and the 'fingerless gloves' on the guy with the headache. All quick fixes hopefully long done by the time you see this.

Yeah and the red wax on the purity seal.  Purity seals, hummmm.

And by contrast, as I had the opportunity to rush into the garage and grab them, here are the 'old' ones, which I can now console myself has having been WIP since 2006ish.

Shiney skin and poor definition at the front.

But I did do some work on the back, even if it was half-a-job.

But the previously done Wyrds leave a little to be desired.

Despite the fact I'll be working in lounge light, these guys are coming in and going on the painting tray; 2016's imperfect painting is still better than 2006's well lit time rich effort.  I'm not quite sure what I think about that.  It does make me never want to look at my Eldar, not the ones I did.

And these bases (although these guys do actually have bases and they are done) need tidying up.  I'm not keen on that overspill.  It might have been all right in the naughties, but it's not acceptable nowadays.

Post post drafting update - these guys have now been repainted to match the ones at the top and the bases have been tidied up.

Ziehen Sie den Finger aus

I've no idea if German speakers actually say that.  Perhaps Marshall Argos could tell us ?  Anyway, back on to the brick of scrutiny in the mid May sunshine.

This guy, the one above with the plasma pistol, was done by Jeff at PVP.

This man, with the fearsome hand gun and silenced SMG, was coloured in by me.  So these photos were me looking at my WIP and seeing that more needs done.

These guys and the Psykers you'll see in another post or so were painted in the lounge after the smalls have gone to bed.  The lighting is soft, lounge appropriate mood lighting favoured by Mrs Zzzzz.  So this is the first time I've actually seen these in daylight.

I'm reasonably happy; they need the brass buttons doing, a blob of Nuln Oil to the face to colour the 'eyes' and then perhaps the hobnails on the boot of the rifleman.

But this is more or less the end of the DKK - I have only one left unassembled and unpainted and he requires an amount of conversion.

Does it look like it matches ?

The new Wolverine alongside a Troop of 22 ASL LRMBT.  Aside from the obvious different design principals and possible higher tech level, in terms of Colour Scheme, it looks like it matches.

Sacramento Pattern Wolverine

Beautiful model.  Loads of detail which came out nice with a mig filter instead of a pin wash.  But no room for transfers.  Oh well.  Who cares ?  Well, it would have been nice to have had the option.  The photos were taken in bright and sunny conditions.  Which have sort of cut through the filter, making it look like it needs another pin wash.  The detail is better defined IRL, you'll have to take my word for it.

The model is sympathetically sized and does look suitable for a higher than Iggy tech vehicle.

A six wheeled armoured car toting twin las cannons makes it a Wolverine.

So now I'll line it up with some other ASL vehicles and we can see if it matches.

DEI GRECI: ATHENA - Steampunk Airship (107)

I don't know if you've seen this.  All of Claus' work is inspiring and his facility with plasticard is, IMHO, unmatched.  Well, some of you may remember Tinner's scratch build armour on Warseer, but that's years ago.  Really years ago.

Do have a look at this.  If you get time and havn't seen them, his scratch built AFVs are fab.

DEI GRECI: ATHENA - Steampunk Airship (107): Hi all, thank you for the positive feedback :) @ Malevengion   and Tuskar Schwarzhorn - thank you :) Yes, I think it is time...

DKK Salamanders

A troop of Salamanders from DKK 19 Armoured Regt's Recce Squadron.  The SOPs for these are for a pair of vehicles operating in a mutually supporting pair coupled with another pair in the troop.  19 Regt still has two troops operational by the time they leave Fort Nuttar to advance on Xyphonica, with two more call signs held back as reserve vehicles.

My thanks to Steve for helping with the 0.5mm antennae - they really do make the models, IRL.  There.  That's one for the mid year update.

Just for fun

Really, seeing these guys in Episode VIII would be great.

Oh. That's Kyboshed that, then.

Well, I've had a nice chat with those people at HMRC and it turns out that they want another huge (Warlord sized) pile of cash related to something I enjoyed the 'benefit' of in 2014.

Now, don't misunderstand me, I do not under any circumstances begrudge paying tax.  Even if Comrade Corbyn wins the next general election and taxes shoot up to 60%.  Oh.  Wait.  Maybe then I'd mind.  But anyway, hospitals, roads and policemen need paying for.  Even politicians need paying for.

However, it's half way through 2016 and HMRC and my accountant are still finding that despite PAYE, I still need to pay comparatively large sums out of my own back pocket for things I'd thought done with years ago.  Oh well....

So that's the Devos IV budget for the year.

There's a few commitments already made, but I've got to be looking at the garage and painting more things myself.  Harumph.
