ASL Manticores
These are kits from Models and Minis. I got one as a Christmas present from a friend and then ordered another two to make a troop. To say that they had a long and tortuous journey from Texas to Oxfordshire would be an understatement, but that's international lockdown postal dis-services for you.
The castings are clean, the resin is solid with no occlusions. These ones in particular require one to shave the lines off of the inside of the chimera track sides to accommodate the chassis plate, but if you cannot figure that out, you're possibly not the kind of person who buys aftermarket kits in the first place.
I tried to be clever painting the separate missile warhead piece; I sprayed it black, natch, then masked the base area with maskol and sprayed the missile cones yellow. The maskol took some of the undercoat off and now they need a bit more work to make ready.
Once they're done the missile bits can be glued in place and happy days, some artillery for the ASL.
This is not field artillery, so doesn't really fit with how I envision (and have built) the army. But there is a GW manticore in the Cadian section, so there is precedent, and I'm not going to worry about it too much.

Vampyr HVM AAA AFV 2nd Troop
Not quite finished. There's some cabling which needs to be painted to match the colours on 1st Troop.
And they need sealing as well.
And I've put the missiles for all of these somewhere so safe, I couldn't find them for the photos.
But they're in a state where they match the rest of the ASL and are good for the tabletop.

Mortian King Russ completed
Bored now. I'm calling these finished and have put them away.
A sentinel. It's the same colour scheme using the same tools.
Aaaargh ! Transfers coming off callsign 34 ! despite the varnish !
Droopy melty barrel. And the muzzle vents need cleaning out as well.
But hey, they look ok, especially en masse.
Either las cannon or auto cannon hull weapon
Twin heavy stubber hull weapons
The rear numbers.
Never did get 'round to disguising the gap in the track links with mud. Oh well.
But not bad
And I didn't get 'round to any sponge chipping, either.
But these are good to go; they're possibly better (certainly painted in a more technical fashion) than the rest of the ASL.
But the sentinel will get a bit more work.
Off they go into storage; brumm, brumm.

Mortian King Russ nearing completion
So here are all six at the same stage.
The top tracks are done, but I plan on more actual mud on the bottom tracks, largely to hide the missing or broken ones which I cunningly managed to get at the back on all the models
A little bit of the painting needs tidying up; the rotating barrels in the sponsons could do with a bit of work as well, there are lines of resin where from when they were sprayed in the first place and one has had an interesting encounter with mig rust.
I'm thinking one last thin wash - it would be a pin wash, although these babes have very few rivets...
And then the lenses on the searchlights - these are green on all the other ASL vehicles.
So I'm thinking of a bit of sponge chipping.
And then a final flick of rust and one of mud.
And then when with a final varnish, hopefully that decal backing line around the number will disappear.
But despite taking an absolute age, I'm liking them.
Rust and soot on the exhaust, black and burnt umbra oil paint as oil around the engine areas.
The green panel on the back of the bustle will get a white aqilla and a repeat of the tank number.
And the type of gap that the mud will have to hide.

Armageddon Steel Legion muster
There's not much room on the little green table and they're jammed in hull to hull.
Part of reason for getting them all out is to compare and contrast where the tracks and the weathering are and decide what needs doing next for the sake of homogeneity.
Most of the stuff is OK and doesn't look too out of kilter with the rest, obviously the WIP mortian tanks need work but that's just the base colour on there
A troop of stompa-hunters, 'cause Sentinels rarely get much love.
And the other troop.
SA7's not much good without missiles.
Panzer Companie leader and 2iC.
The Chimerae tracks are entirely rust atm, so they need work as well.
And there's some WIP stuff on the table as well, This is the first of the next three Sentinels and there's another Zug of Mortians to get table ready as well.
Happy days.
