Servitor Progress

These fellows are the servitors for my Guard army's two Enginseers.  They each have two HB servitors and two Tech servitors each - if you're ever going to deploy an Enginseer, he needs all the help you can give him.
They sat half done for years and you may have seen them on the table with grey undercoat skin and boots.  Indeed, I did want them to have sort of sallow and greyish skin anyway, but these guys have ended up with 'normal' skin (as I do it...)  Which perhaps actually makes these servitors (lobotomised cyborgs) perhaps a bit more creepy.
The dark patches on them are fenris grey (which is prussian blue [?]) over their shadow grey jump suits; this is supposed to be wet patches; biological fluids or mineral oils seeping out of them.  It looks ok in the flesh.

There is a bit in the Word Bearer's omnibus where the Ad Mech persuades the Iggy general that dead and dying guardsmen could be buried with honour, but that they could continue to serve if they were handed over to the Ad Mech as a resource.
"Only in death does duty end."  So, if like the Dread Pirate Roberts you happen to find yourself 'mostly dead' whilst in the Imperial Guard, then you may well end up as a servitor.
Fluftastically, the armies on Devos IV are led by a coterie of Vostroyans, who have strong ties with the Ad Mech, so if your named character gets wounded on Devos IV, watch out...
All eight of them.  Basing in the future, when whole loads of people will be based at once.

  2. Bloomin' lovely sir (I'm not sure those are usually words that come to mind when describing mind-scrubbed criminals or vat-grown cyborg servants). If you want any more I have a fair few sat in the bitz box doing sod all (lazy gits)

  3. The servitors are such great models, and yours look suitably grimy and run down. Great work.

  5. Servitors are a great part of the Grimdark universe. My favourite are the messed up things the Imperium do to them tho, like grafting them to ship/station walls as giant megaphones/speakers etc.....

Tech-zombies following an Engineseer are a creepy sight. These must be fresh recruits.

    1. That fits fluftastically; assuming that the hardware can be re-used from model to model (as the old soft parts wear out or a destroyed in action) then these fellows were probably on the front line as guardsmen a fortnight ago.

I'm just imagining what Dan Abnett could do with that as a storyline. McKoll as a techservitor anyone ?

  6. I really do need to sort myself out an Enginseer and some Servitors. I've been picking up a real assortment of models and bits to do one, but I got the Forge World techpriest and have just been too intimidated to start one. I think I need to do something (probably kitbash a first Enginseer and come back to the second later).

    1. Sounds ambitious. I've just got the two vanillia enginseers. I could possibly get the FW tech priest to lead them. But I'm gonna be good and avoid the expenditure for the time being.

    3. I had a think about the huge list of things to be done. And put prices to things I've outsourced and think that I might not actually have much left in the pot.

And Loving servitors ? I'm not sure that the Ad Mech build that kind of servitor....

  7. Wow, Zzzzzz you have been busy! Nice choice picking out the tops of the backpacks in an orangey-red. In fact, overall I love the choice of colours on these guys.

  8. Cheers Col A. Just seemed like a good idea. Unlike a lot of my good ideas, this one appears to have worked. :)
